Prayers

Grant to me, O Lord

Grant to me, O Lord, to know that which is worth knowing, to love that which is worth loving, to praise that which pleases you most, to esteem that which is most precious unto you, and to dislike whatsoever is evil in your eyes.

Grant me with true judgment to distinguish things that differ, and above all to search out and do what is well pleasing unto you, through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen

Thomas A Kempis (c.1380-1471)

Prayer for Those That Hear and See What Isn’t There:

Grant to me, O Lord, to know that which is worth knowing, to love that which is worth loving, to praise that which pleases you most, to esteem that which is most precious unto you, and to dislike whatsoever is evil in your eyes.

Grant me with true judgment to distinguish things that differ, to hear only from you, and not voices from myself or the enemy of my soul, to see only things that are real, and not fabrications of my mind, to base my life on Truth, and not the shifting sands of delusion.

Lord, and above all, help me to search out and to do what is well pleasing unto you. Through Jesus Christ my Lord, Amen.

Prayer for Those with a Mood Disorder:

Grant to me, O Lord, to know that which is worth knowing, to love that which is worth loving, to praise that which pleases you most, to esteem that which is most precious unto you, and to dislike whatsoever is evil in your eyes.

Grant me with true judgment to distinguish things that differ, to feel and respond in ways and with words that will please you, to extend grace to those that have no idea what I am going through, to assist in love all who seek to find clarity, perspective, and freedom, and to base my life on Truth, not the shifting sands of emotion.

Lord, and above all, help me to search out and to do what is well pleasing unto you. Through Jesus Christ my Lord, Amen.

Thomas A Kempis / Brian Judd

Reflections on a New Day

This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it our use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind ... let it be something good.

We cannot change yesterday. We can only make the most of today, and look with hope toward tomorrow.
